Moon Vine Music is run by Marianna Thielen and Reece Marshburn. They also have a band together called The Bylines for which they play regularly throughout the Northwest and compose original tunes. As The Bylines, they have also played at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City, The Witzend in Los Angeles, and onboard the Star Clipper in Venice, Italy.  They’ve also played the Cathedral Park Jazz Fesival, the Portland Jazz Festival, and the Britt Festival three times, before Michael Kaeshammer(2012), Randy Newman(2015), and Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman(2016).

Marianna Thielen is a songwriter, vocalist, band leader, and percussionist.  She holds a degree in Musical Theatre with a voice emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado.
Reece Marshburn is a pianist, composer, and arranger with a Jazz Studies degree from Western Washington University where he studied with legendary jazz bassist Chuck Israels. 

Marshburn and Thielen are alumni of the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project(2011) where they were mentored by Craig Carnelia, Marcy Heisler, and Lari White and performed alongside Christine Ebersole and Charles Strouse(Annie, Bye, Bye Birdie).  

They have written three musicals for Northwest Children’s Theatre: The Tail of Sleeping Beauty (winner of two Portland Area Music Theatre (PAMTA) awards, best original song and best original musical), Amelia Earhart’s First Flight (PAMTA and Drammy Award nominated) and Dinosaurs! (Three PAMTA nominations). They have also written three mini-musicals for Live on Stage which were produced as part of Portland’s Fertile Ground Festival. In 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022 they were part of the Carnegie Hall created Lullaby Project and partnered with the Oregon Symphony to create lullabies with mothers who have or are currently experiencing homelessness.
