The Bylines Self Titled Debut Released

The Bylines, lead by Moon Vine Music's Reece Marshburn and Marianna Thielen, officially released their debut record at a concert held on March 16th at the Alberta Rose Theatre. In a two act performance, the special 10-piece Byline ensemble performed the entirety of the album as well as covers by Holland/Dozier/Holland, The Romantics, and The Divine Comedy.  A good time was had by all.

The album is currently available at CD Baby, ITunes, and at their next performance May 5th at Tony Starlight's.

Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project 2012 Accepting Applications

Last year, Marianna and Reece were fortunate enough to be able to attend the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project along with 14 other songwriters from across North America.  The master teachers were Craig Carnelia, Lari White and Marcy Heisler.  The week concluded with a special concert honoring the work of composer Charles Strouse which featured performances by Christine Ebersole, Charles Strouse, and some of the attendees of the Songwriters' Project.

"Jump In" which was written during the week's workshop.  This and one other piece written

at the Mercer Songwriting project will appear on their band's, The Bylines, self-titled debut record.

The Johnny Mercer Foundation and the American Music Theatre Project produces a weeklong songwriting intensive for emerging songwriters and writing teams, 18-30, each summer on the campus of Northwestern University. Now in its sixth year, the Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project hosts the nation's most promising songwriters across all genres including musical theatre, pop, country, Latin, rock, and contemporary pop.  Online applications can be found here.

'100 Years of Music' Concert in West Linn

For the 3rd time, the City of West Linn hired Moon Vine Music to produce a show for their Old Time Fair highlighting the last 100 years of popular music.  Reece Marshburn and Marianna Thielen put this show together and brought in special guests Tony Starlight, owner of Tony Starlight's Supperclub and Lounge and West Linn's own, Jim Beatty on clarinet.  The band included Kira Krueger and Angela Baldino Thomas on back-up vocals, Ken Ollis on percussion and Bill Athens on bass. Kickstarter Launch for Marianna and the Baby Vamps

Besides running Moon Vine Music, our executive and artitic director lead and music direct for local band, Marianna and the Baby Vamps.  They are now ready to record the band's first full length album complete with original Marshburn/Thielen songs.  They've lined up one of Portland's top producers, Bob Stark, from the Kung Fu Bakery and recently launched a campaign on kickstarter.com to recruit backers for the project.  They're happy to report that after a week they are already almost 50% toward their goal.
